Along with colleagues H Fred Clark and Stanley Plotkin, Offit invented a rotavirus vaccine that has been credited with saving hundreds of lives per day globally and hundreds of thousands per year. As an author, he has published books on topics such as vaccines, pediatric medicine, autism and the anti-vaccine movement. Offit has been a vocal advocate for vaccine safety, childhood immunization, and stricter vaccine waiver requirements. In addition to his scientific accomplishments, he has also helped shape U.S. vaccine policy, sitting on the CDC’s Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices.
